Mr. Jason Engel has been exclusively providing forensic accounting and expert witness services since 1982. He has served as an expert witness in matters involving business litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency, fraud and business valuation. Mr. Engel's business litigation experience includes the investigation and analysis of economic damages, lost profits, lost goodwill, lost earnings, infringement damages, alter ego, consequential damages, compensatory damages, and contract and financial fraud. His bankruptcy experience includes providing a variety of services in connection with a court appointment by the U.S. Bankruptcy court as the accountant for debtors, creditors and trustees. He has also investigated and analyzed fraudulent transfers, preferences, insolvency, liquidation and provided turnaround consulting services. Mr. Engel has also been engaged in accounting malpractice matters and other concerns requiring an evaluation of financial statements' compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards. His public accounting experience includes auditing, taxation, management consulting, SEC registration and SEC reporting for public companies. Prior to founding Engel & Engel, LLP, Mr. Engel was a senior manager in the litigation services practice at two of the Big Four accounting firms. His professional certifications include Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA), Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), Certified Forensic Financial Analyst (CFFA) and Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV). He has made various presentations and published articles on financial issues in business litigation and bankruptcy.
Mr. Douglas Engel has been engaged in public accounting since 1976, with an emphasis in tax and business consulting to high net worth individuals and related closely-held entities. In addition, he has provided forensic accounting services in connection with tax malpractice, tax issues in bankruptcy, tax issues in employee benefit plans and a variety of tax controversies. Mr. Engel's general tax experience extends to the areas of real estate, health care, manufacturing, construction, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, foreign trusts, professional practices, wholesale, import/export, and apparel. In this regard, he has provided a broad range of services that includes tax planning, estate planning, financial planning, business consulting, partnership restructuring and partnership workouts. His personal financial consulting services include investment consulting, retirement plans, wealth succession and business consulting. Mr. Engel's forensic tax experience includes tax services in bankruptcy matters for creditors, debtors and trustees. In addition, he has been appointed by the court to act as a guardian of financial assets. He has also served as an expert witness in tax matters and related financial issues including tax and accounting malpractice and has consulted with attorneys on tax matters relating to business litigation. Mr. Engel has national accounting firm experience and has managed the tax practices of two Southern California CPA firms. His professional degrees and certifications include Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA).
